I’ve always been enchanted by the mythical creatures of Celtic mythology. I happened across the work of Faeries and Mermaids and I knew that their work would be my feature today. Their OOAK Faerie Art Doll sculptures are amazing and leaves one with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. Is it their charm or the work of the Fae? I don’t know but check out these beautiful dolls.

Fairy Lepercon Fantasy Art Doll, $18.03

Fairy Princess Doll, $21.32

Fairy Princess Art Doll w/ Kitty Cat, $22.11

Fairy Princess Fantasy Art Doll, $18.19
On a side note: I was really meant to feature the Fae today. Why, you ask? Today is my oldest son’s birthday and the nurse that helped deliver him was wearing a Celtic knot. Talk about attention to detail. LOL

After a painful 4 days of totally oblivion Haute Innovations is back up and running. I don’t know what happened but it appears that my web host that I was with since December decided that they didn’t want to be in the business anymore because when I went to log into to check comments, my site was GONE. I thought maybe it was an outage but after 3 days I decided to go ahead and just start anew.
Yes I know I have featured hundreds of people over the last 5 months and all that hardwork has been lost to the cyber goblins but it’s alright I guess this was actually a good thing, just think if the site was up a year or so, now that would be even more devastating.
We are dusting off the ash and like the pheonix we will rise. Here’s to some awesome new features and interviews!

Name: Kelly Malouf
Business Name: Kelly Malouf Designs
Where are you located? Illinois
What do you design and create? Hand Beaded jewelry, clothing, accessories, home decor items and more
What’s your favorite part of the design process? I am always thinking of designing something new. I LOVE it when I think of something and then make it actually happen.
What’s your favorite thing to make? I love beads, so anything that incorporate beads.
How did you come up with your business name? It was more cost and time effective for me to put my business in my name.
Where/How did this all begin? I have been making jewelry for years now. Friends and family encouraged me to make a business out of it. So, after spending a lot of time researching what I needed to do to have an online business, I decided to take the plunge and opened my own store.
Who or what is your inspiration? My husband and daughters inspire me to do what I do everyday. I find design inspiration everywhere. I always carry some paper and a pen with me so that I can write down ideas as they come to me, which makes it so much easier than trying to remember them later.
What advice would you give other independent artists who are just starting out? I would tell anyone just starting out to really research all that is involved before undertaking any business. Have a lot of patience, because success does not come overnight. And always remain positive.
Do you have any favorite Indie purchase/trade? If so, what is it? I have not been on Indie that long yet to have a favorite. But I wish I had joined a long time ago.
What’s on your iPod/music player right now? Oldies, Pop, Rock….Depends on my mood.
What t.v. shows are you currently hooked on? Boston Legal, Grey’s, ER, Medium
What was the last movie you watched? Pirates of the Carribean (the last one)
What’s your favorite food? Hmmm, Pizza or Salad
Favorite candy? Snickers or Reeses PB Cups
Favorite drink? Diet Coke or Kahlua and Cream
Favorite color? Purple
Favorite holiday? Christmas
Favorite piece of clothing? Tough one. Anything that I look good in.
Any exciting plans for the year? Oh yes! I have several things I am working on to add to my website. I’m plan on some jewelry lines to add hopefully soon. These will be for specific things but have not ironed out all of the details yet. I am working on several Blogs right now and plan on narrowing them down a bit. And as always, I try to learn something new all the time. I plan on learning new techniques that I can incorporate into my jewelry this year, so that I may be able to add different styles to what I already offer.
